Poson Poya Commemoration by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing



The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing, China commemorated the Poson Poya Day with series of religious activities on 23
rd June 2013 at the Embassy premises.


A full day “Sil” programme was conducted by Ven. Yalagamuwe Dhammissara Anunayaka Thero, Chief Incumbent of Dimbulana, Viharagoda Sri Dhammananda Vidyathana Piriwena, Ambagasdowa in Sri Lanka and Hachioji Temple in Japan with the participation of the Embassy Staff, members of Sri Lankan community including students and members of Armed Forces.  The “Sil” programme was followed by a “Bodhi Pooja” in the evening.


An alms giving was organized at the Residence of the Ambassador for Buddhist Priests including the Priests from the Ling Guan Temple in Beijing. 


The Embassy premises was decorated and lit up with lanterns. 


Many Chinese people visited the Embassy premises and enjoyed the colourfully decorated lanterns and the Pandol constructed by the Embassy Staff and Sri Lanka students from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing depicting the story of ‘Mahindagamanaya”.


The evening “Pahan Pooja” and “Poson Bhakti Gee” performed by the children and the staff of the Embassy were also enjoyed and appreciated by the Chinese nationals who visited the Embassy premises.
