The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing commenced its work for the New Year 2017 on 02nd of January 2017.
H.E. Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China hoisted the National Flag in front of all the Embassy Staff. The National Anthem of Sri Lanka was sung by the Staff of the Embassy. Two minutes silence was observed in remembrance of war heroes and those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland.
H.E. the Ambassador read out the Oath of Public Servants. H.E. the Ambassador in his speech mentioned that H.E. Maithripala Sirisena the President has declared the year 2017 to eradicate the poverty from Sri Lanka and as public servants what we can do to realize this objective. Ambassador further mentioned that “from a country like China we have lot of things to learn and also Chinese Governments is carrying out major projects to uplift the livelihood of rural Chinese. While learning from them we can also send more investments, infrastructure and other commercial projects to strengthen the economy of Sri Lanka.
Arrangements were made for the whole Embassy staff to the programme of Sustainable vision.
At the end of the ceremony all the Staff was treated to authentic Sri Lankan food.
