The old town of Galle and its fortifications

Galle Fort, located 119 Km away from Colombo on the Southwestern tip of Sri Lanka was built by Dutch in the seventeenth (17th) Century.

It is a 90 Acre walled City, preserving its ancient charm for over four centuries. Presently, it is a tourist attraction and has the distinction of being a living World Heritage Site which includes houses and boutique hotels in which you can stay.

A real treat is watching the ‘Sun Set’ across the Indian Ocean. Galle reached the height of its development in the 18th century, before the arrival of the British, who developed the harbor at Colombo.
